"Christmas In Newport" Holiday Door Decorating Contest

Newport, Rhode Island is one of New England's most quaint and beautiful destinations. Nestled on the shore of Aquidneck Island, it is known for its cobblestone streets, locally owned shops, Gilded Age mansions and yacht-filled harbor.

It's no wonder Newport's annual holiday celebration is unlike any other. 2017 marks the 47th year for the events that make up Christmas in Newport.

1500 volunteers raise thousands of dollars for charity during the month of December's non-profit events. These include tree lightings on Bowen's Wharf (taking place this weekend) and the Newport Skating Center on December 8, plus a seemingly endless list of musical performances, religious gatherings, and holiday displays.

Santa Clause will host starry-eyed children inside a beautifully decorated Gilded Age mansion throughout December. Better still, you can catch him at the Newport Visitor's Information and Transportation Center on December 9 perched in front of what is billed to be New England's largest gingerbread lighthouse!
